Atlas Shrugged

Atlas Shrugged by Ann Rand

Has anyone read this yet? I've started it a couple of times, and can't seem to get into it. Someone please give me a pep talk and tell me how wonderful it is and help me get motivated.

I'm sure it's fabulous, but the copy I have is just so long with really small print, so it's not enjoyable to read.

If no one else is reading it, then I think I'll abandon ship and not try anymore.

Anyone?

I'm feeling the same way. Bronson said it was awesome. Other friends said it was their favorite book. But when I saw how small the writing was, and over a thousand pages, I about died! I'm just a few pages in and can't seem to get caught up yet. I'm going to give it another serious try, and I'll let you know if I'm ready to bail or not. I'm not usually into punishing myself by reading something I don't love.

Well ladies, I was just consulting Bronson. He says it gets better about 100 pages in, but it's all about building people up and crushing them. "My kind of book. Not book club material. You guys need to read Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."

So girls, what's it going to be? Are we going to take this from some 18 year old whelp or are we going to stick with it? or do we just want to admit that Sisterhood is more our style. And celebrate it.

Alright. This is Jen and I came by your blog through Dandelion Wishes. I notice that we read a few of the same blogs and also noticed you were gonna stop by my OH SO BORING blog, but noticed it was private.

I'd love to have ya if you ever get some time! Is this your main blog or is it the recipe one. . . or is there a "secret" one for only really cool people? LOL!

Aright, you're probably scared of me now. Drop me an email sometime and I'll invite ya to my blog! Don't hold your breath though. It's nothing exciting and I need to update it!

Jen!

Has anyone read The Fountain Head? It was amazing I thought. I haven't read this one.

My mom is reading it right now, said it took her a while to get into, and is taking her like 3 weeks to finish, but she does like it. Crazy how much people used to write when more is more was all the rage! Although Stephenie Meyer used a lot of words to describe her stuff too and that is current and young adult fiction. I guess it is a style preference.

BTW: I'm jyl. And thanks SCM (am I allowed to use that acronym ? LOL) for your great comment on my recent post! Always love hearing from you. :)

It's funny how some books take a little struggle to get into and then after about the first 100 pages it kicks in and ends up being a book that people just love. How do books like that even get published - you think? I thought that the rule was that you were supposed to PULL the reader in during the first 100 pages so they'd never want to put the book down. I hope you get into this book and find it enjoyable - it might be worth the challenge.

Take care and have a good weekend - Kellan

PS - I've never read it - sorry.

We read it for our ward book club. It was a hard read for me but it really is a good book.
